Dundee-based artist Jason Nelson commissioned Metazoa to build the website for his latest project, 'an ongoing web based art project. The intention is to populate a ficticious housing estate with stories, placing essentially random narratives within the same context'.
The List describes Jason and his work: 'Born in the ex-mining town of Kelty in Fife, Nelson explores how his adult identity has been informed by this upbringing. Since completing his studies in Dundee, Nelson has returned to Kelty to find inspiration for a substantial body of work, including illustrative etchings, screen-prints, performances and videos. In all these works Nelson documents real episodes and stories taken from daily life, introducing us to a range of different characters along the way.'
Metazoa turned Jason's disctinctive hand-drawn artwork and video footage into a website with an interactive estate map and loads of embedded Flash video content. and provided technical advice and support throughout.
Jason said: "Working with Pete was a delight. He was on board immediately with my idea and with what I was trying to achieve. It was clear that my working process was different from his more commercial clients but he coped effortlessly with my constant questions and made me feel nothing was impossible. Working with Pete felt more like a collaboration and I very much hope to continue working with him."
